Scott married the love of his life, Theresa ‘Tey’ Manas Lemos on Novemin the Provo LDS Temple. For a time he thought he wanted to be a pediatrician but chose Internal Medicine, saying “I’ll be helping the bigger kids”. This was followed by fellowship training in Cardiology back at the University of Utah School of Medicine. His educational journey led to successful completion of residency training in Internal Medicine at UC Davis, Sacramento. He then entered the University of Utah School of Medicine and graduated with his MD degree in 1979. Scott’s education continued at the University of Utah where he completed his undergraduate degree in psychology in only three years. He loved high school sports, his buddies, a diversity of clubs and excelled at his studies while maintaining a 4.0 GPA. Scott grew up in the Rose Park area of Salt Lake City and attended West High where he graduated with honors, a Sterling Scholarship in mathematics and the Valedictorian of the class of 1972. Scott met his three half-brothers later in life Dave and Don West and Dan Colgan. He and his sisters remained close throughout their lives.

She was so very proud of Scott and he loved her dearly. His parents divorced when he was very young, and their mother Sally raised her young family by herself, often times working two jobs to make ends meet.
